Volunteer
FAQ
Why should I volunteer for HotChips?
For the FREE limited-edition conference shirt! Where else can you get an
embroidered shirt that says "HOT Staff", absolutely to be confused
with HOT Stuff! There in begins the FUN! Plus the numerous benefits [too
many to mention] some of which are listed below...
- One of the leading conferences on chip architectures
- Great Networking Opportunity
- Free conference attendance including meals ["will work for food"]
- Conference proceedings
Whom do I contact to volunteer?
Contact Fred Zeise, Volunteer
Coordinator for HOT Chips 14.
Will I have to volunteer for the entire conference?
No. You have to sign up for time-slots. We would like you to at least sign
up for two time slots for the conference. When you sign up for time-slots,
please provide additional choices with preferences. Slot preference is first-come
first-serve and we may have to use one of your additional choices.
What if I am unable to fulfill my timeslot?
If you wish to cancel your slots, please coordinate with other fellow volunteers
and adjust slot assignments with them. Don't forget to notify the Volunteer
Coordinator of your change in plans and make sure he/she notes them on the
Volunteer Slot Assignment Sheet.
How will I know which time-slots I am assigned in?
You will be notified about your slot allocation as soon as the Volunteer
Coordinator gets a chance to update the Volunteer Slots Assignment Sheet.
Slot assignments will also be announced at the Compulsory Volunteer Meeting
(Volunteer Training Meeting) on Saturday, August 17th, 2002 at 2:00 PM.
Please don't forget to attend this meeting. Slot assignments will
also be posted on this website.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact
the Local Arrangements Chair or the Volunteer Coordinator.
