A question Google asks itself every day is:
What sorts of activities will people be engaged in over the next few years
when networks -- the Internet in particular -- become "always on" and "always
aware"? Today, people basically use the network for two things: communication
(e-mail, chat) and search. The growing pervasiveness of networking, combined
with the reality of Moore's Law will spawn the creation of fundamentally
new classes of activities and categories of activities that will advance
our lives on the Net in completely new ways. For software developers and
chip designers alike the future clearly holds new challenges, new opportunities
and new risks. The ultimate challenge is getting the right answer to this
broad question. If we do that, everything else falls into place.
